Wood Recycling

Recycling…

Years ago the word “Recycling” was rarely on the tip of our tongues.  These days it’s an everyday word.

When I was growing up, tin cans, glass bottles, and plastics were thrown in the garbage.  Newspapers and scrap paper were burnt in the fireplace for heat.

I started recycling at a very young age.  I’d walk around the neighborhood every Saturday morning searching for bottles and cans that carried a deposit.  I would also collect old newspapers from my neighbours with my go-cart. I’d get $20 for a small trailer load at a recycling depot.

Luckily today many items are banned from the landfill.  One of those items is wood. The Landfill in Delta, B.C. recycles wood.  It gets chipped up and is used as ground cover at the Landfill which saves it from rotting away in the Landfill.

Stay tuned for other recyclables that can be repurposed.

Thanks for reading.
